Another Family Favourite

Kranti 1981
Music : Laxmikant Pyarelal
lyrics : Santosh Anand
singers : Nitin Mukesh & Lata Mangeshkar
song : Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi

A song full of deep meanings and alot of emotions. This is a killer song, cant help but press the repeat button whenever it's played. You can listen to this song regardless what mood your in.

Zindagi Ki Na Toote Ladi Lyrics
zindagi ki na toote ladi
pyaar kar le ghadi do ghadi
lambi lambi umariya ko chhodo
pyaar ki ik ghadi hai badi

un aankhon ka hansana bhi kya
jin aankhon mein paani na ho
wo jawaani jawaani nahi
jiski koi kahaani na ho
aansu hain kushi ki ladi

Mitwaa Tere Bina Lage Na Re Jeeya Ra Lage Na

aaj se apana waada raha
ham milenge har ek mod par
dil ki duniya basaayenge ham
gam ki duniya ka dar chhod kar
jeene marne ki kisko padi

laakh gehara ho saagar to kya
pyaar se kuch bhi gehara nahi
dil ki deewaani har mauj par
aasamaanon ka pahara nahi
toot jaayegi har hathakadi

The bonding of life must not break
Lets love for a moment or two
Forget about a long long life
A moment of love is enough

what is the value of a smile in your eyes,
when your eyes have never tasted the value of tears.
There is no youth if it has no story to tell
Tears are the strand of happiness

Darling i cant live without you

From today we have a promise

We will meet at every place, every chance we get
we will build the world of our hearts
We will leave behind this sorrowful world of fear
Who cares about living or dying

The oceans may be thousands deep

There is no limit to the deepness of love

The desire of the hearts pleasure
accelerates further than the skys
The handcuffs and chains will break

INDIA - Mission To The Moon

India - Mission To The Moon

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=bSl2idw80HY

India has successfully launched its first mission to the Moon.
The unmanned Chandrayaan 1 spacecraft blasted off smoothly from a launch pad in southern Andhra Pradesh to embark on a two-year mission where it will create a 3d map of the Lunar Surface.

The craft was built by the Indian Space Research Organisation.

India is now the 6th country in the world to launch into space

Indian PM Manmohan Singh hailed the launch as the "first step" in a historic milestone in the country's space programme

One key objective will be to search for surface or sub-surface water-ice on the Moon, especially at the poles.

Another will be to detect Helium 3, an isotope which is rare on Earth, but is sought to power nuclear fusion and could be a valuable source of energy in future.

Powered by a single solar panel generating about 700 Watts, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) probe carries five Indian-built instruments and six constructed in other countries, including the US, Britain and Germany.

The mission is expected to cost 3.8bn rupees (£45m; $78m), considerably less than Japanese and Chinese probes sent to the Moon last year.

The Indian experiments include a 30kg probe that will be released from the mothership to slam into the lunar surface. The Moon Impact Probe (MIP) will record video footage on the way down and measure the composition of the Moon's tenuous atmosphere.

It will also drop the Indian flag on the surface of the Moon.

The country's tricolour is painted on the side of the probe and, if successful, India will become the fourth country after the US, Russia and Japan to place its national flag on the lunar surface.

Professor David Southwood, director of science and robotic exploration at the European Space Agency congratulated India's space agency on the launch.
He added: "While the exploration of space calls for new challenges to be overcome, joining forces is becoming more and more a key to future successes."

Barry Kellett, project scientist on the C1XS instrument, which was built at the Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory in the UK, said: "Chandrayaan has a very competitive set of instruments... it will certainly do good science."

C1XS will map the abundance of different elements in the lunar crust to help answer key questions about the origin and evolution of Earth's only natural satellite.

Researchers say the relative abundances of magnesium and iron in lunar rocks could help confirm whether the Moon was covered by a molten, magma ocean early on in its history.

"The iron should have sunk [in the magma ocean], whereas the magnesium should have floated," Mr Kellett told BBC News.

"The ratio of magnesium to iron for the whole Moon tells you to what extent the Moon melted and what it did after it formed."

The instrument will look for more unusual elements on the Moon's surface, such as titanium.

This metallic element has been found in lunar meteorites, but scientists know little about its distribution in the lunar crust.

Chandrayaan (the Sanskrit word for "moon craft") will also investigate the differences between the Moon's near side and its far side. The far side is both more heavily cratered and different in composition to the one facing Earth.

The spacecraft will take about eight days to reach the Moon. During its lunar encounter, Chandrayaan fires its engine to slow its velocity - allowing it to be captured by the Moon's gravity.

Chandrayaan will then slip into a near-circular orbit at an altitude of 1,000km. After a number of health checks, the probe will drop its altitude until it is orbiting just 100km above the lunar surface.

India, China, Japan and South Korea all have eyes on a share of the commercial satellite launch business and see their space programmes as an important symbol of international stature and economic development.

Last month, China became only the third country in the world to independently carry out a spacewalk.

FAVOURITE SONGS - Agar Bewafa Tujhko

This song is amongst my favourite top 30 sad songs of the 1960's. It's sung by one of my favourite singers Mohd Rafi. The female version was sung by Lata Mangeshkar. It was a massive hit song but the film is not so popular.
Used to be played on radio stations countless number of times.

Film - Raat Ke Andhere Mein 1969
song - Agar Bewafa Tujhko Pehchan Jate
music & lyrics -Prem Dhawan

Re-make of this song with new singers and new video is on youtube

Mohd Rafi [solo] - audio only

Hindi Lyrics: Mohd Rafi Version
Agar bewafa tujhko pehchaan jaate
khuda ki kasam hum mohabbat na karte
Jo maloom hota yeh anjaame ulfat to
dil ko lagaane ki jurrat na karte
agar bewafa tujhko pehchaan jaate
khuda ki kasam hum mohabbat na karte

If i knew that you would be unfaithful
God promise I would not have loved
If I knew the consequences of this love
I would not have dared to give my heart so easily
If i knew that you would be unfaithful

God promise I would not have loved

It's a bit tricky translating lyrics in english because you tend to loose some of the meaning and sometimes the lines have to be re arranged into a sentence.....this is a close match of the song

Diwali - The Festival Of Lights

Diwali - Five Days Of Diwali

Five Days Of Diwali
Deewali is a festival of joy, splendor, brightness and happiness.
It is the festival of lights and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all Indians all over the world.
The uniqueness of this festival is its harmony of five varied philosophies, with each day to a special thought or ideal.
People celebrate each of its five days of festivities with true understanding, it will uplift and enrich the lives.

The first day of Diwali: Dhanteras
The first day of Diwali is called Dhanvantari Triodasi or Dhanwantari Triodasi also called Dhan Theras.
It is in fact the thirteenth lunar day of Krishna Paksh, the dark forthnight of the month of Kartik. On this day, Lord Dhanwantari came out of the ocean with Ayurvedic for mankind.
This day marks the beginning of Deepawali celebrations.
On this day at sunset, Hindus should bathe and offer a lighted deeya with Prasad (sweets offered at worship time) to Yama Raj, the Lord of Death and pray for protection from untimely death. This offering should be made near a Tulsi tree, the Holy Basil or any other sacred tree that one might have in their yard.

The second day of Diwali: Choti Diwali
The second day of Diwali is called Narak Chaturdasi.
On this day Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasur and made the world free from fear. On this day, one should massage the body with oil to relieve it of tiredness, bathe and rest so that Diwali can be celebarated with vigour and devotion.
On this night, Yama Deeya should not be lit.
The Shastras (Laws of Dharma) declares that Yama Deeya should be offered on Triodasi night with Prasad.
Some people mistook it to mean that because Yama Deeya was lit on that night, that it should always be lit on the night before Diwali.
This is absolutely not true. It is advisable that one consults with a learned Pandit or Hindu Astrologer for proper guidance on this matter.

The third day of Diwali: Lakshmi Puja on Diwali
This is the day when worship unto Mother Lakshmi is performed.
Hindus cleanse themselves and join with their families and their Pandit (priest) and they worship the divine Goddess Lakshmi to achieve the blessings of wealth and prosperity, the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness.

The fourth day of Diwali: Padwa & Govardhan Puja
On this day, Govardhan Pooja is performed.
Many thousands of years ago, Lord Krishna caused the people of Vraja to perform Govardhan Pooja.
From then on, every year Hindus worship Govardhan to honour that first Pooja done by the people of Vraja.

The fifth day of Diwali: Bhai Duj
The fifth day of the Diwali is called Bhratri Dooj.
This is the day after Goverdhan Pooja is performed and normally two days after Diwali day. It is a day dedicated to sisters.
Many moons ago, in the Vedic era, Yama (Yamraj, the Lord of death) visited his sister Yamuna on this day.
He gave his sister a Vardhan (a boon) that whosoever visits her on this day shall be liberated from all sins.
They will achieve Moksha or final emancipation.
From then on, brothers visit their sisters on this day to enquire of their welfare.
This day marks the end of the five days of Diwali celebrations.
This is also known as Bhai fota among Bengalis.
Bhai fota is an event especially among Bengalis when the sister prays for her brother's safety, success and well being.

Diwali Hindu Festival
Diwali also known as Deepawali is a major festival of the Hindus, celebrated in India and also in many parts of Nepal and around the world.
Diwali is also known as the Festival of Lights, where lights are used to illuminate homes, streets and important buildings.
Its known to signify the victory of good over all evils.
As per Hindu mythology, Diwali is celebrated as the homecoming of king Rama, after fourteen years of exile.
In order to celebrate this occasion, the whole kingdom was lit up with lamps.
Ladies welcomed Lord Rama by lighting rows of lamps that are known as deepa in India, hence the festival derives its name.
There is also a belief that Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura, on this auspicious day. In the Jainism faith it is believed that it marks the nirvana of Lord Mahavira.
The preparations of this festive day is made well in advance.
The women of the house start cleaning their homes to welcome the Goddess of wealth. Traditional sweets are made so that offerings can be made to the deity.
On this important day of Diwali, the Lords are bathed in sacred water and placed in an altar for worship.
People prefer to stay with their near and dear ones, as per mythology.
It is believed that this day is the day of homecoming.
The most important event of this festive Diwali is the puja or worship of the goddess Laxmi.
As per Hindu mythology Laxmi is the goddess of wealth and Ganesh the Lord of prosperity. These two worships mark the beginning of the day, after which people illuminate their homes with lamps.
Lights are believed to remove evils from the society and bring in peace and prosperity.
After the traditional puja is performed, children usually burst firecrackers that signify the defeat of the evil.
This is the day of rejoicing and people celebrate by having elaborate breakfasts and lunch.
This is the day of meeting with friends and relatives.
Special dishes are prepared for the occasion.
There are many people who perform tarpan, or offer water and sesame seeds for the soul of their ancestors.
Diwali is considered to be one of the most awaited festivals of the Hindus.

Kishore Kumar - 21st Death Anniversary Tribute

Remembering Kishore Kumar

It's been 21 years since the legendary singer Kishore Kumar died of a severe heart attack. 13th of October 1987 was a very sad day for India, they had lost another great hindi singer for whom many fans worldwide admired so much. He was only 58 years old.
It's sad to read that Mukesh 1977, Mohd Rafi 1980, and just recently Mahendra Kapoor 2008 all died from a severe heart attack too.

Kishore Kumar was one of the greatest singers of yesteryears, he was a fine actor who also produced some films and even was a music director of some films. He has left a legacy for many generations to treasure

His birth name is Abhas Kumar Ganguly he was born on the 4th of August 1929 in the Khandwa town of Central Provinces and Berar, British India (which is now known as the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh). He was the younger brother of actor Ashok Kumar.

Kishore Kumar's first song was "Marne ki duayen kyon mangu" for the film Ziddi 1948. There were so many emerging singers of the late 40's and the 50's was always gonna be tough to establish your name at the top. Kishore Kumar sang the odd song here and there in the early years, mainly hits songs for Dev Anand, the vast majority of his songs throughout 50's and most 60's were for himself as it seemed he felt pressured into becoming an actor. He did comedy roles and sang mostly fun songs. but it was not enough to convince other music directors and actors to take him up. These were the days of mainly Mohd Rafi & Mukesh. Kishore Kumar continued in the 60's to act in comedy roles and sing for himself and the odd Dev Anand song when the opportunity came his way thanks to S D Burman.

He was married 4 times and has a famous son who also became a popular singer in the late 70's and throughout the 80's and early 90's. He was Amit Kumar.

It was about 1969 when Kishore Kumar started to sing more songs and it was also a time when actors like Dilip Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Shammi Kapoor [even Dev Anand] who were all associated with Mohd Rafi and Raj Kapoor's loyalty with Mukesh was coming to an end of an era as age has to make way for new and upcoming actors.
Kishore Kumar stormed up the hindi charts when he became the new voice of young handsome Rajesh Khanna. Although it was Mohd Rafi who sang the very early Rajesh Khanna songs, there was something about the film Aradhana 1969 when music director S D Burman fell ill and his son R D Burman took up the role as MD, he called in Kishore Kumar to sing the remaining unsung songs instead of Mohd Rafi who had already sung 2 duets for the film. The 2 songs Kishore Kumar sang were "Mere Sapno Ki Rani" and "Roop Tera Mastana" which became very popular songs of 1969/1970. This was the big break Kishore needed and it helped him to become the dominant singer for the next 17 years

1970 a new decade and Kishore Kumar was singing more songs and hit songs they were. Other music Directors also started to give Kishore Kumar songs to sing as his voice became popular and his yodelling became a trademark which he did as early as the 50's. 1971 to 1976 mainly was flooded with Kishore Kumar songs, some fans might agree them were his best singing years. Kishore Kumar became the voice of Amitabh Bachchan too. The later part of the 70's was good to Kishore Kumar too, it was mainly dominated by himself and Mohd Rafi equally.
1980 onwards Kishore Kumar continued as a leading playback singer till the day he died.

Music Director R D Burman had a special relationship with Kishore Kumar for whom he gave majority of songs to.
Kishore Kumar was associated with many other famous music directors suchas Laxmikant Pyarelal, Kalyanji Anandji, Bappi Lahiri, Rajesh Roshan and S D Burman.

It is estimated that Kishore Kumar sang approx 3000 songs in various languages. About 2500 of them are for hindi films.
Kishore Kumar sang several 100 songs each with Lata Mangeshkar & Asha Bhonsle too

He went on to win 8 film fare awards for best singer
Year - Song - Film - Music director - Lyricist
1969 Roop tera mastaana - Aradhana - S D Burman - Anand Bakshi
1975 Dil aisa kisi ne - Amanush - Shyamal Mitra - Indeevar
1978 Khaike paan Banaraswaala - Don - Kalyanji Anandji - Anjaan

1984 Manzilen apni jagah - Sharaabi - Bappi Lahiri - Anjaan
1985 Saagar Kinaare - Saagar - R D Burman - Javed Akhtar

He acted in about 80 films or more
He was music director of 10 films
He went on to produce and write 14 films
Kishore Kumar's songs will never be forgotten, there are so many hits and popular songs that we all sing or humm to ourselves. He sang many romantic songs, sad songs, bitter sweet songs, fun/comedy songs, disco songs, sharabi songs. He was the complete singer.

O Mere Dil Ke Chain
Chaen Aaye Mere Dil Ko Dua Kijiye
O Mere Dil Ke Chain

Apna Hi Saaya Dekh Ke Tum Jaane Jahan Sharma Gaye
Abhi To Yeh Pehli Manzil Hai Tum To Abhi Se Ghabra Gaye

Haay Aise Na Aanhe Bhara Kijiye
O Mere Dil Ke Chain
Chaen Aaye Mere Dil Ko Dua Kijiye

Aap Ka Armaan Aap Ka Naam Mera Tarana Aur Nahin
Inn Jhukti Palkon Ke Siva Dil Ka Thikana Aur Nahin

Mick St Clair - Lound N Proud 2

MICK ST CLAIR ------ Loud 'N' Proud 2

Got to be my best buy of the month for August . Most outstanding album with solid tunes and good music arrangements.
Mick ST Clair really does know what is needed to create that all occasion party atmosphere.

"FRIENDSHIP", it has a reggae kick to it. I like the singers voices they sound very raw, kind of village style. Good music arrangements.

"RESHMI GARARA" a nice danceable track for the ladies.

"DIL KARDA" a good track for that special occasion, a celebration song. I can see this being played on weddings and parties. Good vocals by Jassi and all round great music. Its lyrics are quite catchy too.

"YAAR DE VIYAH" Yes Kaka delivers a wicked song, one for the boyz. This has to be a a dance floor filler.

"DHOLLA VEH DHOLLA" wow what a monster of a track, It's the return of the Dholla track. Mick has really put the extra edge to this track. Bhangra/Hindi weaved magically together. AWESOME TRACK.

Credit goes out to all those behind this extradinary top class album.

Some info about Mick ST Clair's history
Mick ST Clair the DJ is one of the early legendary pioneers of the Bhangra explosion in the UK.
I think he was possibly the very first Asian DJ in the UK probably going back to the early 70's. He has achieved some major awards for his contribution to the Bhangra Industry. His extradinary career spans for more than 3 decades as a top class DJ.
Mick is very talented. I believe he once presented a radio show back in the mid 80's though i cannot confirm that yet. He has an album or two where he sang the songs and vocally my opinion is he is good. One album that i remember is "ISHQ DI GHADI" late 80's if my memory serves me well. Mick even released an album of REMIXES which was very new to the bhangra scene back then. Mick had a recording studio with practically every other local bhangra band rehearsing there and even having their albums released under Micks Record Label. The group Sat Rang is one of many bands under Mick's "SAINT RECORDS".
Although Mick did take a break for several years in the late 90's early 2000's from recording due to various reasons suchas spend more time with his family, enjoy a bit of travelling abroad and things like that. Mick still continued to DJ and still does to this present day. I admire Mick's comeback into producing and releasing again, he really has what it takes to bring good music and songs to all asian music lovers worldwide.
Mick has made a big impact to people's live in the UK and abroad and contributed to revolutionise asian music in the UK. His popularity expands around the world from UK To Europe, Canada and India and so.

FAVOURITE SONGS - YAADON KI BARAAT

This song goes out to all my brothers, near and far, past and present, lost and found.

film : Yaadon Ki Baraat 1973
song : Yaadon Ki Baraat
singers : Kishore Kumar & Mohd Rafi
music : Rahul Dev Burman
lyrics : Majrooh Sultanpuri

This song has always been a childhood favourite of mine. written by a great song writer Majrooh who has penned so many of my favourites. Nice music by RD as always and the soul touching voices of the most versatile male singers of bollywood in my opinion Rafi & Kishore.

Kishore: Yaadon Ki Baraat Nikli Hai Aaj Dil Ke Dwaare, Dil Ke Dwaare
Yaadon Ki Baraat Nikli Hai Aaj Dil Ke Dwaare, Dil Ke Dwaare
Sapnon Ki Shehnaai Beete Dinon Ko Pukare, Dil Ke Dwaare
Ho Chhedo Taraane Milan Ke Pyare Pyare, Sang Hamare
Badle Na Apna Yeh Aalam Kabhi
Jeevan Mein Bichhdenge Na Hum Kabhi
Ho Badle Na Apna Yeh Aalam Kabhi
Jeevan Mein Bichhdenge Na Hum Kabhi

Rafi :Badle Na Apna Yeh Aalam Kabhi
Jeevan Mein Bichhdenge Na Hum Kabhi
Ho Badle Na Apna Yeh Aalam Kabhi
Jeevan Mein Bichhdenge Na Hum Kabhi
Yoon Bhi Jaaoge Aakhir Kahan Hoke Hamare

Both :Yaadon Ki Baraat Nikli Hai Aaj Dil Ke Dwaare, Dil Ke Dwaare
Sapnon Ki Shehnaai Beete Dinon Ko Pukare, Dil Ke Dwaare

Rafi :Aage Bhi Hoga Jo Uska Karam
Kishore :Yeh Din To Manaayenge Har Saal Hum
Rafi :Apne Aangan Nachen Gaayenge Chanda Sitaare
Both :Yaadon Ki Baraat Nikli Hai Aaj Dil Ke Dwaare, Dil Ke Dwaare
Sapnon Ki Shehnaai Beete Dinon Ko Pukare, Dil Ke Dwaare
